There’s Going To Be Some Backlash In WWE

WWE’s first SmackDown pay-per-view following WrestleMania 33 is set as Backlash will go down this Sunday, May 21.

The card will feature all but one SmackDown title being defended as WWE begins its new storylines following Wrestlemania. They would’ve added that last title match but it seems Tye Dillinger vs Aiden English is best for business… I’m pretty sure I’d rather watch Dickie Rich and Wonderboy Josh play cornhole sober.

WWE Backlash matches

WWE Championship — Randy Orton (c) vs. Jinder Mahal:

MarkyMC:  OK WWE, we get it. You’re building your following in India. You fed this guy some juice after almost firing him and now he’s the number one contender. I plan on watching this feud drag out till Summerslam. Way to go Vince! Orton wins battle 1

United States Championship — Kevin Owens (c) vs. AJ Styles:

MarkyMC: Owens just took the title back from Chris Jericho. Styles is the number one contender for the belt. This match has so much potential. These two guys can go the distance and really give us a great title match and a great feud to watch while both Jericho and Cena are absent. Owens remains the face of America

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler:

MarkyMC: Nakamura will make his main roster in-ring debut at Backlash. It will be against Ziggler. Why? Because Dolph Ziggler can put anyone over and skyrocket them right into Heavyweight Title contender land. Nakamura wins and Dolph Ziggler loses a little bit more self respect putting over yet another baby fresh face.

Tag Team Championship — The Usos (c) vs. Breezango:

MarkyMC: This is such a bad gimmick its great. I’m pulling for the “Fashion Police” in this mix up. The Usos seem like the go to pick in this one but I think Tyler Breeze and Fandango finally get their due and this title gets a little more pretty!

Naomi, Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, Carmella and Tamina Snuka:

MarkyMC: There’s really zero point to this match. how do you develop a storyline putting all your eggs in one basket? The faces don’t lose if they lose. Give it to the heel squad and stop Charlottes face turn while you’re at it…

Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn:

MarkyMC: Zayn is becoming the next “go to” guy for putting people over. He can really sell a good beating and no one seems to care if he loses because we’re all used to it. The winner will start moving a bit closer towards that U.S title contention. Owens is going to retain and not too many people want to see Zayn vs Owens for the hundredth time. You’re welcome Corbin

We Saved The Best For Last!!!

Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English (Kickoff Show):

MarkMC: Dillinger will improve to 3-0 against English. Dillinger joined the main roster after Mania and the WWE has no idea what to do with English after his partner was let go thus disbanding the Vaudevillians. That’s really all I got on this one….

Final Thoughts:

MarkyMC: Sunday’s card is lackluster at best and as a follow up to Wrestlemania. This sail has no wind left in it. I’m assuming there was some shake up in the writer’s office because this is Monday Night Raw terrible. The answer is: “Yes I could do better”
