I get it man. Both of these guys best ball is behind them but if you are a team desperately in need of a corner, doesn’t the idea of having these two players on each side of your defensive backfield make you salivate at least a little bit?
Just a few years ago, the thought of this would have had offensive coordinators losing their minds. They would have had to completely restructure their offenses, because passing the ball in a scenario like this would be highly unreasonable if not impossible. At one point, not that long ago, quarterbacks would completely avoid throwing at the side of the field either Revis or Sherman were on.
If you think about it, it probably wouldn’t be any different right now. Besides being bit more disruptive in the locker room, Sherman is pretty much the same guy he has always been. Yeah, quarterbacks have had a bit more success against him but nobody in their right mind is going to test him on a regular basis. So their other option is to throw at Darrelle Revis. I know everyone is making jokes about “Revis Resort” but I don’t care if this guy is paralyzed and in a full body cast being toted around the field in a wheelchair, even just hearing his name makes you tense up a little bit.
I’m sure by now you could sign Revis for pennies on the dollar and Sherman would probably be wearing a different uniform if Seattle could get a 1st and a fourth or a second and a third pick in this year’s draft.
Revis has become a laughingstock over the last couple years but answer me this. Who on the Jets hasn’t? Just having a solid corner like Sherman on the other side could elevate both of their games and make them dominant again.
So, I know the chances of this ever happening are slim to none. It’s highly unlikely that anyone will take the chance on either, much less both of these guys, but a dude can still dream. Right?
